GP2X Arrived
Hello and welcome to my new blog i will be covering my adventures with this new toy the GP2X from Gamepark.
Below is a pic of the box contents.

The gp2x arrived this morning along with a 1 gig SD card, The unit is quite light compared to the DS and PSP and is comfortable to hold. It's a nice looking machine and the desktop is easy on the eye and nice to use

I was annoyed i had to put the screen protector on myself, its not like the average house has laboratory dust free conditions, and after seeing how much hassle the PSP had with dust under the screen, i was quite worried about making sure no dust was trapped in between, I would suggest getting some dust removing Spray from Maplins. After putting the protective screen on which took me a bit of time, like 30 mins, dust is a nightmare and and it seemed like they wanted to stick on my screen. I started sorting out all the brilliant homebrew emulators and applications.
I quickly downloaded
GP2PSX
MAME GP2X
NeoCDGP2X
MAME Williams
First problem i had was with theUSB, it doesn't get recognised properly in windowsXP on my laptop or desktop it seems to see it, but as an unrecognised device, had to use my SD card reader. The sandisk SD card i used worked fine the firmware was already updated to 1.0.1 which was one less thing to do

MAME
MAME looks very nice with a scanline effect on the screen, i think it gives it a more arcade look and feel to the games, i tried 3 of my favorite games Bubble Bobble, Commando and Ghosts n Goblins the latter 2 played the best, Bubble Bobble was a bit buggy, but not to worry lots of other games to play and tinker with.
